Georgia Wedding :: Kings Bay Naval Base :: Jade + Brian

So 2016 started off in sweet Georgia, just over the Florida line at Kings Bay Naval Base where Jade and Brian celebrated their marriage with friends and family from all over. I photographed Jade’s senior portraits not that long ago I thought ha! She also worked for me off and on for a few years durning college helping with a few high school proms and at least one wedding on the beach. So naturally we had to have Jade do one prom pose for her wedding photos haha. Brian works on board a Naval Submarine that is stationed on the base and is originally from Georgia. Any groom that chooses his Grandfather as his best man is alright by me. Congratulations again it was great seeing them start their life together. Be sure to bring the family back to the Cape for some family portraits on the beach in a few years Jade – no rush!

New Year, New Changes, New Outlook

Happy New Year to all my friends, family and clients

Wow what a year it was….2015 and what a year it will be in 2016. Yes, I’m still doing photography and always will. You could say 2015 was bit of a transition year for me and my business. Some of you may or may not been aware but I’ve gone through a lot lately – but all that is behind me now and as I look forward to 2016 I’ve embraced a new place to call home in Mashpee not only is it a great little house close to my girls but it’s a perfect spot for my new home studio. It’s been 12 years since I last worked out of my home and I look forward to all that it has to offer – easy access to the lunch time snacks, short commute, etc. ha!

I’ve downsized my business a bit and cut the overhead so that I can concentrate on the two areas I love – wedding photography and beach portraits. But will no longer be offering indoor studio portraits, sports and certain event photography. The business here on the Cape is very seasonal and for a time I was picking up some work in Florida to help fill in the holes in the schedule during the winter. That plan never really seemed to get rolling.  I was really ready to simplify my photography studio but at the same time wanted to find something else to help pay the bills.

So once I stated to slow down for the season I decided to find a part-time winter gig to have fun – I seriously considered snow plow driver for about 10 seconds ha! I landed a job in a field with my other passion – running and took a job as a sales associate at Marathon Sports. I love being able to help runners and walkers find the right shoe for them and I get to talk about running while I do it! I’ve met some pretty inspirational folks over the last few months and love the people I work with.

I also became curious about Real Estate once I started renting out my family home in Florida in 2013. So I went and got my real estate license this fall and recently started working as a Realtor at William Raveis in Falmouth. I’ve even already written my first offer for a client! It reminds me a lot of when I first started my photography business in 1996. Kind of starting from scratch but this time I have a great support team and I’m not on my own. My background should serve me well with my other new “job”. The fact that many of my wedding clients move after they get married and many families of my seniors become empty nesters may help as well. And just think you will have some of the best photos on the MLS!

11227947_1614419342153356_3000839006609318811_nSo just when you think that was crazy to have three jobs I just accepted a forth! (This probably explains why I was a liberal studies major in college) Many of you know I volunteer as the director of the Main St. Mile in Falmouth and also work on the Cape Cod Marathon committee as the Start/Finish line co-director. I just accepted a new position with the Cape Cod Marathon new management team and will be the acting race director for the 2016 race presented by the Falmouth Track Club. I’m very excited to help out with the marathon and have been privileged to be associated with the race for 10 years. Because of the newest gig I’ve decided to step down from the sales position at Marathon Sports. I had a blast but there are really only so many hours in the week.

So just to be clear I’m a Photographer, Realtor and Race Director who sometimes helps you find the right running shoe to wear. Oh and I run a lot….

Here’s to 2016! Can’t wait to get started!2016ad

Cape Cod Wedding :: Hyannisport Club :: Jennifer + Robert

My last wedding of the season brought me to Jen and Rob from NYC down to Hyannis Port for a fabulous Cape Cod Wedding at St. Andrews-by-the-Sea followed by a reception at the Hyannisport Club.

They decided to do a “first look” before the ceremony so the Bride and Groom – along with their 22 Bridesmaids and Groomsmen, could spend some together before everyone arrived at the Wedding. “Duckie,” Jen and Rob’s King Charles Cavalier, almost stole the show when Rob brought him out in custom attire from Vineyard Vines of course!

The bride and her Mother planned all the details and design with Jamie Bohlin of Cape Cod Celebrations helping coordinate. The color palette was gold, ivory and light salmon pink with shades of blush to coral pink and navy. The bride designed a custom monogram (as a marketer, she couldn’t help giving her new family a “brand identity”) – the J and R are centered by an anchor and surrounded by sailors rope in gold. Jen’s sister, Kelly Eident (and MOH), helped with the final finishing touches as well as designed the Bridesmaids’ personalized rhinestone bathrobes.

Congratulations again to our happy couple from the big apple.

Fenway Park Senior Portraits :: Lindsay 2016

Well it’s not everyday I get to go work in one of my favorite places on the planet but it sure was a joy to photograph Lindsay recently at Fenway Park home of the Boston Red Sox! She and her family are big fans and wanted to do something different, something other than the beach so I suggested Fenway having known her family for a very long time and they loved the idea. Here are a few of our favorites from the day.

Cape Cod Wedding :: Popponesset Inn :: Laura & Mark

After a late summer break from weddings we were back at it with this international love story. Laura and Mark had their Cape Cod wedding recently at the Popponesset Inn. The couple live in Australia but he is from New Zealand and she from well America of course. They decided on a destination wedding here on Cape Cod and couldn’t have asked for a better late summer day in September! Unfortunately Mark’s dad could not make the trip but through today’s technology was able to Skype in have a conversation with his son and watch the entire ceremony be streamed over thousands of miles back to New Zealand. Thanks to my summer roommate and awesome wedding photojournalist Kelly Hike for second shooting with me on this one!
